This is Archie, hear him roar!

As 2020 draws to a close, it held one last surprise for us: the 19-month-old’s broadcasting debut, which featured in a special holiday episode of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s new podcast on Spotify, Archewell Audio.

During the course of the episode, which marked the launch of Archewell Audio, the Sussexes spoke to guests including Elton John, Brené Brown, and Tyler Perry—and their own son!

The adorable clip of Archie speaking in public for the first time comes towards the end of the 35-minute podcast, with Harry advising his son to speak into the microphone.

“Archie, is it fun?” Meghan asks, to which Archie replies, “Fun!”

“After me, ready?” Harry says. “Happy”—

Archie: “Happy!”

Harr and Meghan: “New…”

Archie: “New!”

He then, without prompting, crows “Year!” and his parents dissolve into giggles. The podcast fades out with the sound of Archie’s delighted chuckling. Is there anything that sounds better than a baby’s laughter?

Movingly, Harry and Meghan also play a recording of the song ‘This Little Light of Mine’, which rang through St George’s Chapel on the day of their wedding in May 2018.

It’s a song “that means to much to us”, Harry says, adding that its message “is one we hold so dearly.”

Meghan says the gospel song “played at the very end of our wedding, while we were walking down the steps of the church.

“It was the music that we wanted playing when we started our lives together. Because as we all know, darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.”
