“We’re excited to announce a brand-new anime series exploring the Dota universe like never before.” Valve said in their Tweet.

The fantasy-inspired series follows the story of Davion, most familiar to players of the game as Dragon Knight.

According to the show’s logline, Davion’s devotion to wiping out the scourge brings him face to face with other prominent characters from the game, including Princess Mirana – who’s got her own secret mission to attend to.

Dragon’s Blood is set to be animated by Studio MIR, well known for their remake of Voltron, as well as being the animation team behind Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra. (Maybe that’s where all that TI money went?)

It’s not just fans of the game who are excited either. With plenty of teams and commentators jumping in expressing their excitement at the news.

The March release date also syncs up quite nicely with the timing of the first Major. The Singapore Major starts March 27. That gives you two days to catch the first episode before the action kicks off.

Dota 2: Dragon Blood will be streaming on Netflix from March 25.
