As we approach the June 1st launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, the team at ZeniMax has released a new trailer breaking down more of the story in this year’s Gates of Oblivion storyline.

This trailer, released this morning, talks about the story behind the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon and the Longhouse Emperor’s, setting the stage for the upcoming Chapter release. The trailer goes on to talk about the "Four Ambitions," powerful Daedric weapons hidden throughout Tamriel in ages long past.

The trailer itself is a dramatic telling of the story behind the pact between the mortals and Daedric Prince, told from the perspective a loremaster of Tamriel themself. It’s an interesting look and shows a bit more clearly how everyone’s favorite (okay, maybe just my favorite) Daedric Prince got wrapped up in the story tha takes place in ESO this year.

It’s fitting too that yesterday the team at ZeniMax also released a new Loremaster Archive talking about Mehrunes Dagon and the Second Age itself. Like all of these updates, they are told in-character, this time that of Lyranth the Foolkiller herself on the Elder Scrolls Online website, answering some of the questions. Lyranth goes into some detail about Dagon’s relationship with Hircine, views of some Daedra on other Daedra, and the populations of Banekin and Clannfears.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood will be releasing on June 1st for PC, Mac and Stadia, while console players will be waiting till June 8th to start exploring Leyawiin and the rest of the region. Companions are a huge part of this chapter release, with the team breaking them down a little further last week as well for those who are still interested in how they work within Nirn.
