Comedian John Mulaney shared some happy news with fans on Tuesday’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. During the appearance, he confirmed the rumors that he and girlfriend Olivia Munn were expecting their first child together. But after the excitement over the news wore off a bit, fans started questioning just how long John and Olivia have actually known one another.
Fan thinks the funnyman is spending a little bit too much time detailing the timeline of their love.
During the big reveal on Tuesday’s show, John explained exactly how he went from happily married man to expecting a baby with someone else.
"I went to rehab in September, I got out in October, I moved out of my home from my ex-wife," John told Seth as an explanation of how he and ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler’s relationship ended. "Then in the spring I went to Los Angeles and met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia."
Much of that lines up with the public details of John and Olivia’s relationship, but now that fans are digging deeper, they feel like they’ve uncovered a few inconsistencies in the pair’s stories.
Although John claims they only recently met, they both admit to having attended Seth’s 2013 wedding.
As Page Six pointed out, in a 2015 interview with HuffPost Live, Oliva admitted to being "obsessed" with John after having met him at Seth’s wedding, which she attended with then-boyfriend Will Forte. "We were at a wedding together and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, do you and your fiancé want to go have dinner or something and go hang out’" Olivia said at the time.
"At first it was cool, and then I kept going up to him at the wedding like, ‘So, you having fun?’" she recalled. "I was just so obsessed with hanging out with and talking with him."
Apparently, Olivia even emailed John after their encounter but claims that he never emailed her back.

The two also appeared together in 2017.
In addition to meeting at Seth’s wedding, the pair also appeared on Jon Stewart’s 2017 HBO special Night of Too Many Stars. We know that they saw each other, because Olivia was even caught on camera saying "Hi, John" as the comedian walked off stage.
Both of these things are giving fans pause when it comes to the story that John and Olivia only recently entered one another’s lives.
Fans are understandably skeptical after news leaked that John had been reaching out to other women while still married to Anna Marie.
An insider told Page Six that during John’s relapse, he was known to reach out to women online.
"He was DMing women on Instagram for hookups — whether he went through with anything, we don’t know — and by December he’d fallen off the wagon again and was abusing drugs and alcohol," the friend revealed. Apparently, John had admitted at the time that he had no memory of having contacted the women.
It sounds as if John may have a good reason for being fuzzy on the details of when he and Oliva met if he was struggling with frequent blackouts and memory loss during his relapse.
Some think it’s John’s insistence on sharing such a specific timeline that raises eyebrows.
It does seem odd that John framed the news he was about to be a father by detailing exactly what led up to the moment during his big reveal.
"I don’t think it’s any coincidence that John broke the news of Olivia’s pregnancy the way he did in terms of basically giving a timeline of his past few months — when he moved out of his house, how it was the spring when he fell in love with Olivia," a celebrity agent who once worked with Oliva told Page Six. "It seems to me that he is going to great lengths to dispute the idea that he cheated," the agent added.
Whether John and Olivia were in a relationship prior to when John asked his wife for a divorce is between them. We just hope that all of these rumors and speculations die down soon so the couple can start enjoying the excitement that comes with first-time pregnancies. As we’re sure they’re realizing, those nine months go quickly!
