Don’t call it a comeback! Earlier this year on The Bachelor Season 25, contestant Michelle Young was at a disadvantage when she officially became a member of Bachelor Nation by showing up later in the season (along with four other women) rather than on the first night like the rest of the cast. And she and her cohorts weren’t well-received: The five newbies were bullied and shunned by the OGs, but that didn’t stop Michelle from standing out… to viewers and to Bachelor Matt James. She turned out to be the only one of that new batch to last long into the season; in fact, she made it to Matt’s final two.
Were we surprised to see her as a sort of underdog champion? Nope: She’s lovable, smart, sensitive, secretly hilarious… and now, she’s the next star of The Bachelorette, which returns for a new season tonight, Tues., Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
Are ya ready… to find out everything we know about Season 18’s outstanding leading lady? Get to know The Bachelorette‘s next Bachelorette, Michelle Young!

She majored in elementary education in college at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where she also frequently made the honor roll while also playing for the school’s women’s basketball team. She has since worked as a teacher.
In her Bachelor bio, she describes herself as an “over-worker, loyal, compassionate and supportive.” She loves to “spend time with friends hiking and wine tasting” and is “very adventurous in life and in appetite.” In fact, all of her favorite restaurants are local food trucks. She adds that she “has big dreams for the future and says she wants a man by her side that is supportive and driven to make the world a better place.”
What is Michelle Young’s age?

In her Bachelor bio, she stated she was “ready to find love and a man with whom to start a family.” Her dream man is “confident but not cocky and will look at her as his equal in all things.” Her love language is “acts of service,” and she’s “looking for the superman to her superwoman.”

Yep! Her Bachelor bio proudly noted that she’s a former Division I basketball player; she played guard at Bradley University and won loads of awards, like Player of the Week, multiple times. She revealed that she misses the game in an Instagram post, and the camaraderie that goes along with it! But not the “conditioning workouts”!
She doesn’t have time for the racism in Bachelor Nation
Michelle joined her fellow Season 25 contestants in denouncing the racism within Bachelor Nation.
Along with the women from Matt’s season, she shared a statement in response to Chris Harrison‘s interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, during which he defended fellow contestant Rachael Kirkconnell‘s past racist actions.
“We are deeply disappointed and want to make it clear that we denounce any defense of racism. Any defense of racist behaviors denies the lived and continued experiences of BIPOC individuals. These experiences are not to be exploited or tokenized,” says the statement, which Michelle posted on her Instagram Stories.
