Meghan Markle made her appearance on The Ellen Show today, joining for a daytime TV convo for the first time since she became a royal. Chatting with Ellen DeGeneres, Markle opened up about her new life in the States, her first days dating Prince Harry, and her new children’s book. And, as a part of Ellen‘s comedic antics, the pair played a wacky little game that resulted in some acclaim from social media.

To kick things off, DeGeneres asked her guest how she’s been liking California since stepping back from her Royal role.

“[Harry] loves it,” Markle said. “We moved here during lockdown, exactly when things shut down. We’ve been able to spend a lot of time at home, creating our home. But I think it’s just the lifestyle. The weather’s pretty great. We’re just happy.”

Markle also gave a sneak peek into one of her first outings with Prince Harry, explaining that the pair had to sneak out for a night alone on Halloween years ago.

“It was a post-apocalypse theme [party], so we had all of this very bizarre costume going on, and we were able to just have one final fun night out,” the Duchess of Sussex said.

But the real kicker was when Markle and DeGeneres did a hilarious comedic bit out on the town. Markle was sent out with DeGeneres in her ear, telling her what to do. For example — test hot sauces like a chipmunk, and keep upping the spice. Or play with crystals and ask the seller, “Can you feel my powers?”

Fans online gushed over Markle’s comedic timing, celebrating her shenanigans. “lol meghan markle playing with crystals and fake changing on ellen is DEFINITELY the wackiest thing a royal has ever done,” one Twitter user shared.

One of the audience’s fave moments in the bit was when Markle had to perform a kitten song for a stranger outside, pretending it was a song she sang to her children.

And that wasn’t all. As the credits rolled on Markle’s interview, she and Ellen danced into the end of the episode. What a fun time!

The Ellen Show airs weekdays on CBS at 3/2c.
