Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s marriage was short-lived, and the pair are currently in the midst of a highly contentious civil trial where Depp is suing Heard for an op-ed she wrote that suggests he abused her during their marriage.

During Heard’s testimony in court, she discussed the beginning of their relationship together at length, from the early days when they would spend days on end in one of the many homes Depp owned, which Heard described as “like magic.”

Heard and Depp met did not start dating until 2012, thought they met earlier than that on the set of the film The Rum Diary. Though the film, based on the Hunter S. Thompson novel of the same name, wasn’t a huge box office success, there’s been renewed interest in it as a result of their trial. If you’re wondering where to watch The Rum Diary, the good thing is that it’s widely available to stream.

Where to watch The Rum Diary

In The Rum Diary, Depp plays Paul Kemp, an alcohol-fueled journalist who leaves New York for Puerto Rico. While he’s there, he falls for Chenault (Heard), the girlfriend of a wealthy but sketchy entrepreneur (Aaron Eckhart) who’s planning a shady real estate deal that could destroy the peaceful, bucolic island.

The Rum Diary is available for rent for $3.99 or purchase for $12.99 on Amazon Prime Video, RedBox, Google Play, and iTunes. It is also available for free to subscribers of Tubi, Vudu, and PlutoTV.
