The Philadelphia Phillies have a record of 29-20, since all star outfielder Bryce Harper’s injury. Harper is due back on Monday in Arizona. Two of the reasons the Phillies have been playing good baseball is, because of the bats of Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott. These future stars have been providing good play and youthful energy to the Phillies lineup.

Alec Bohm is has 4 homers, 21 RBI’s and a .348 batting average. Bohm was the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft by the Phillies. He finished 2nd in the 2020 rookie-of-the-year voting, but struggled offensively and defensively last year, causing him to be sent down to Triple-A. This year he has been a important part of the Phillies offense and his defensive play has improved. Bohm will never be a great fielder, but as long as he provides offense, then his adequate defense at third base will not be a issue.

Bryson Stott has 2 homers, 12 RBI’s and a .348 batting average, since the all star break. Stott was the 14th overall pick of the 2019 MLB draft by the Phillies. He was the Phillies top minor league prospect coming into the season. Stott struggled offensively in the first part of the season, but he has been a hot hitter during the second half. He has taken over as the starting shortstop with the release of Didi Gregorious. He was splitting time between second base and shortstop prior to Gregorious’ release.

With the Phillies best hitter due back from injury on Monday, and with the play of Bohm and Stott to go along the other veteran players, the Phillies could be a tough team down the stretch.
