It’s been over a year since Manifest‘s Season 3 finale aired, but after being canceled by NBC and picked up for a fourth and final season by Netflix, the series is making its highly-anticipated return.
Since Jeff Rake’s supernatural drama premiered in 2018, viewers have followed Montego Air Flight 828’s passengers and crew, who mysteriously arrived home five years after their plane took off. With help from their family and friends, Cal (Jack Messina), Ben (Josh Dallas), and Michaela Stone (Melissa Roxburgh) set out to uncover the connection between the people on that plane and the reason for their return. As they race to find answers, their collective Death Date — June 2, 2024 — looms.
Manifest Season 4 will be split into two parts, with 10 episodes hitting Netflix on November 4, 2022, and another 10 dropping at an unknown later date. Season 3 ended with several serious cliffhangers related to Cal, his mom Grace (Athena Karkanis), rogue passenger Angelina (Holly Taylor), and more. So here’s everything you need to remember from the Season 3 finale, “Mayday,” ahead of Season 4.
Cal Is….Old Now
First things first: Cal is a teen. Yep, when we last saw Cal in Season 3 he was no longer played by actor Jack Messina. After touching the plane’s tailfin in Eureka and disappearing, Cal returned home in the finale’s closing moments…as a teen (played by Ty Doran).
The Tailfin And Plane Are Gone (Oh, and Saanvi gets callings again!)
Speaking of Flight 828’s tailfin, it vanished, too. After young Cal touched it and disappeared, Ben and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) realized they were never meant to find the tailfin, and they were certainly never supposed to perform tests on it. They finally figured out they needed to return the tailfin to the water, and their righthand NSA connection Vance (Daryl Edwards) helped make it happen. Ben and Saanvi went out on a U.S. Coastguard boat and returned the mysterious hunk of metal to its rightful home. After sinking and glowing, it disappeared, and Saanvi’s efforts earned her the first calling she’s had in a long, long time, which means she may have redeemed herself. In the finale’s real final scene, Dr. Gupta was just about to leave Eureka when Captain Daly appeared in the reconstructed plane’s cockpit, screamed “help me!”, and disappeared along with the entire aircraft. No big deal!
Michaela Quit The Police Force
After learning that Saanvi accidentally killed The Major (aka Sarah’s mom), Michaela brought her to the precinct so she could turn herself in. Once she realized she had a duty to protect her fellow 828 passengers, Michaela quit the force and left with Saanvi before she could confess. When Jared (J.R. Ramirez) found out Mick turned in her badge, he was pissed. But it didn’t take long for him to suspect what was at the root of her life-changing decision.
The Michaela/Zeke/Jared Love Triangle Is Back
Speaking of Jared, after learning that Saanvi was involved in The Major’s death and Michaela quit her job to protect her, Jared realized he could no longer date The Major’s daughter, Sarah. He was furious with Mick for putting him in that position, and said, “I was just starting to finally get over you. You were supposed to be gone, Mick. I’m sorry, but you were supposed to be gone.” While Jared and Michaela were having their heated conversation, Mick’s precious husband Zeke (Matt Long) picked up on some major feelings between the exes using his empath abilities. When Michaela returned to him, he simply said, “We should talk.” Ouch.
Several 828ers Are Anti-Ben Stone
Angelina wasn’t the only rogue 828 passenger at the end of Season 3. We also saw Adrian (Jared Grimes) and Eagan (Ali Lopez-Sohaili) leading a whole group of Ben Stone haters and plotting his death because they believe he’s an “agent of the apocalypse” just like Noah.
Grace Is Almost Certainly Dead, And Angelina Kidnapped Eden
One of the most heartbreaking — and quite frankly, creepy — Season 3 cliffhangers involved Angelina breaking into the Stone’s house, barricading Olive’s door, and going to Grace’s room to snatch baby Eden. Angelina told Grace, “I need my guardian angel,” and when Grace lunged to stop her from kidnapping her daughter, Angelina stabbed her. Angelina took Eden into the bathroom and “baptized” her with Grace’s blood still on her hands. Then she disappeared with the baby, leaving Grace to bleed out on her bedroom floor. Before Grace died, she saw (and recognized!) teenage Cal above her. She told him to take care of the family, and he replied, “I love you mom. It’s OK. I know what we need to do now.” UGH!
Is Grace really dead? Is baby Eden ever coming home? Can the 828ers come together to decipher their Death Date dilemma? Here’s hoping Season 4 has all of our answers.
