GenDesign, the studio behind the highly acclaimed The Last Guardian, has heavily implied that it will announce its next project at some point this year.

Speaking in its New Year greeting, GenDesign teased that 2023 would “finally [be] a year with lots to talk about. We are working hard to make this a great year for you, so please look forward to it.”

While the company’s next project has yet to be announced, we do know that it will be one of the first to be published by Epic Games’ new publishing label. Remedy and Playdead are among the developers also signed with Epic for distribution. GenDesign had previously offered a glimpse at its new game via some art work two years ago.

GenDesign was established back in 2014 by ICO and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda, who previously worked at Sony’s now-defunct Japan Studio.

The Last Guardian was originally announced at E3 2009 as being in developed for the PS3, and went through a tumultuous development cycle that saw long periods of silence and was eventually repositioned as a PS4 game.
