Texas Roadhouse is known for plenty of dishes on its expansive menu, and the green beans are one of them. As most of us know, these aren’t your average green beans because they come with crispy bacon, and are cooked in steak seasoning.

Gather the ingredients for copycat Texas Roadhouse green beans
If you’re looking for an easy side dish recipe, then you are in luck! To make these green beans, you only need a handful of ingredients. Pick up bacon, a yellow onion, garlic cloves, chicken broth, green beans, and steak seasoning.
Once you have those things, you can begin making the copycat Texas Roadhouse green beans.
Cook, and crumble the bacon
To start, take out a large skillet, and add the bacon strips. Turn the heat to medium, and cook the bacon until it gets nice and crispy. Once the bacon is crisp enough, remove it from the skillet, and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. When it’s cool enough to handle, crumble the bacon into small pieces, and set aside.
Cook the onions and garlic
Using the same pan that you used to cook the bacon, toss in the chopped onion. "The bacon grease, leftover from cooking the bacon, is the perfect vehicle for sautéeing the onions and garlic," Shungu notes. Continue cooking the onion for about 4 to 5 minutes, until it gets nice and soft. Once softened, add the minced garlic to the mix, and cook for another 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Simmer the green beans
Pour in the chicken broth, and bring the liquid to a simmer for about 10 minutes. Then, you can add the drained green beans, and steak seasoning. Turn off the heat, but allow the ingredients to sit in the skillet with the liquid to soak up the broth. "Take care not to let the green beans simmer for too long — you’re just warming them through," Shungu says. "Otherwise, they will overcook."
Serve the copycat Texas Roadhouse green beans
Finally, add in the crumbled bacon, and serve the green beans as you wish — just make sure you serve them while they’re still nice and warm. These copycat Texas Roadhouse green beans make a great side dish, and Shungu shares a few of her favorite main courses to pair it with. "This dish is great with roast chicken, steak, pork chops, or ribs," she notes.
If you happen to have any leftovers, be sure to keep them for another meal. "Leftovers will keep for 4 to 5 days in the refrigerator," Shungu shares. "Reheat in the microwave, or in a skillet on the stovetop."
Copycat Texas Roadhouse Green Beans Recipe
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 14.5-ounce cans green beans, drained
- ¾ teaspoon steak seasoning
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, until crisp. Remove the bacon, and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble the bacon into small pieces, once cooled. Leave the bacon grease in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, cook until the onion until softened, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add the garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
- Carefully pour in the chicken broth, and bring to a simmer, about 10 minutes. Add the drained green beans and steak seasoning, stir, and turn off the heat. Allow the green beans to sit in the liquid for a few minutes to soak up the broth.
- Stir in the crumbled bacon, and serve while warm.
