James Cameron has plotted the Avatar franchise up to Avatar 5 ever since the release of Avatar: The Way of Water. Seeing as Avatar 2 featured the Metkayina clan mostly in underwater scenes, Avatar 3 is bound to feature a new Na’vi tribe, fire-wielding Na’vis to be precise, and according to Avatar 2 producer Jon Landau, Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin will be leading the fire Na’vi.

You may know Chaplin best for her role as Talisa in HBO’s Game of Thrones, most specifically, one of the most infamous pivotal episodes in the series, The Red Wedding. Now, it looks like Chaplin will be joining the sequel film as the leading villain, as Landau recently shared with Empire Magazine (via Variety).

Landau described that Avatar 3 is set to introduce a more antagonistic race of the Na’vi, a said group called the Ash People, which is described to be “an aggressive, volcanic race” led by Varang, the very role Chaplin is set to play.

James Cameron teased Avatar 3 to be darker than its predecessors, in which the aggressive tribe led by Varang is “not as peaceful as the Metkayina clan” in Avatar: The Way of Water.

“I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides,” Cameron shared previously, “In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite.”

There is no doubt that since the Avatar franchise is set to produce Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, the exploration of the broad new world will only keep making the world of Pandora bigger. In fact, Cameron said that Avatar 5 will be set on Earth for a change, where Neytiri will be introduced to where Jake Sully originally lived, as opposed to the corners of Pandora they’ve ventured off to. Apart from Oona Chaplin’s casting, a new narrator will take over Jake’s role in Avatar 3, and that is none other than his son, Lo’ak.

Avatar 3 Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Third Movie?

Avatar 3 is expected to pick up where Avatar: The Way of Water ended where Jake Sully and his family are recovering from the death of their eldest child, Neteyam, after the fight that ensued between them and the Sky People by the reefs.

Jake Sully and Neytiri both try to pick up their whole family as they are now considered as part of the Metkayina clan, personally welcomed by the head of the tribe, Tonowari. This means that the family isn’t returning to the Omaticaya clan in a while.

The matriarch of the Metkayina clan, Ronal, is still pregnant and her birth to her child could mark a new chapter to their whole clan.

The Metkayina clan remains by the reefs as they live with the Sully family and they now forge a better relationship with each other, even a deeper appreciation to their Tulkun brothers and sisters, even with the Tulkun outcast that saved them all during the battle with the Sky People.

Speaking of the Sky People, their quest for the Tulkun is still ongoing because an extract from the Tulkun gives a preserving effect that humans who take it will stop aging, making it the most valuable liquid being sent back to Earth.

Meanwhile, Kiri remains to be a surprise character after it was revealed that she is a miracle child of Dr. Grace Augustine and she turns out to have abilities to control the wildlife of Pandora on her will and she even revealed to Jake that she hears and feels the heartbeat of Eywa.

Then, there’s Colonel Miles Quaritch who was saved by his son, Spider. Still, Spider chose to be with the Sully family and that left Quaritch alone for survival but with Spider still saving Quaritch shows how human the child is in the movie.

With the arrival of four more characters played by Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh as Dr. Karina Mogue, Oona Chaplin as a Na’vi named Varang and David Thewlis as an unnamed Na’vi until Avatar 5, it is expected that there is more to the story once Avatar 3 comes out.

Where to Watch Avatar 3?

Even so, before it comes out on the streaming platform, the movie is first expected to be released in cinemas just like Avatar: The Way of Water.
