Madonna pays tribute to brother Anthony Ciccone after his death

Madonna thanked her brother Anthony Ciccone for “blowing [her] mind” as a young girl in a sentimental tribute following his death.
“Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to [jazz musicians] Charlie Parker [and] Miles Davis,” the “Vogue” singer, 64, wrote on her Instagram Story Monday alongside a group photo featuring her late sibling.
She continued by shouting out other things her brother taught her, including religions Buddhism and Taoism, and writers Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan and Jack Kerouac.
“You planted many important seeds,” Madge concluded the tribute.
Page Six confirmed Madonna’s eldest sibling died on Feb. 24 at the age of 66.
A source told us that Anthony’s relationship with his siblings had been strained, as he struggled with alcoholism for several years.
“Most family members had a difficult relationship with him due to his disease,” the insider shared.
“Madonna helped to support her brother when he would accept that support. During his final months, he was in contact with family and Madonna, but this past week, he refused the support the rehab facility offered, and it was clear he was ready to move on.”
His cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Musician Joe Henry, who is married to Madonna’s sister Melanie Ciccone, was the first to announce the news in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
“My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly plane last evening. I’ve known him since I was 15, in the spring of our lives in Michigan so many years now gone,” Henry, 62, captioned a black-and-white portrait of Anthony.
“Anthony was a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can. But I loved him, and understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let on,” he continued.
Henry noted that family always “remains— with hands reached across the table.”
“Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision,” he concluded the post.
Madonna grew up in Michigan with her seven siblings, where her eldest brother was believed to have been residing when he died.

Anthony was reportedly homeless for multiple years and lived under a bridge at one point.
It was reported in December 2017 that he had completed a program at a rehab facility and reconnected with his family; however, his relationship with Madonna was consistently rocky.
Years prior, Anthony spoke out against the Queen of Pop and the rest of their family, accusing them of not caring about him.
“I’m a zero in their eyes — a non-person. I’m an embarrassment. If I froze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care about it for six months,” he said in 2011.
“My father would be very happy if I died of hypothermia, then he wouldn’t have to worry about it any more. He’s old-school, he grew up in the depression,” Anthony went on before claiming he and Madonna “never loved each other.”
“I never loved her in the first place, she never loved me. We never loved each other,” he said of the “Hung Up” singer at the time.
It’s unclear whether Anthony ever married or had children.
Aubrey Plaza’s cleavage was secured.
The “White Lotus” star sparkled on the SAG Awards 2023 red carpet in a copper Michael Kors gown featuring a sexy cutout and crisscrossed straps.
However, once Plaza, 38, hit the stage with her co-stars to accept the award for Best Ensemble Cast, she appeared “annoyed” and could be seen clutching at her top and mouthing “Jesus Christ.”
While fans praised her “hot” ab-baring look and figured she was simply trying to ward off a wardrobe malfunction in front of cameras, the actress’ stylist, Jessica Paster, shut down speculation that her annoyance was due to her outfit.
Replying to a person who left a comment on popular account Check the Tag’s Instagram — “The straps could be better adjusted, but i love the color, and hair and makeup look amazing,” they wrote — Paster wrote, “did 7 fittings .. for real … I wanted underboob 😍.”
Other commenters were a bit more blunt.
“This fit is horrible and not flattering on her at all,” one person said. Another commenter fired a direct shot at Paster, saying, “Her stylist obviously does not have a [sic] eye for proportions & fit cause this does not look good on her.”
A third wrote, “You just stare at the middle of the dress… too bare makes it a tacky 70s American Gangster costume,” while a fourth remarked, “So tired of the whole ‘How naked can I be in public without getting arrested?’ look.”

Plaza, who presented an award with fellow sarcastic brooder Jenna Ortega earlier in the evening, seemed to shake off the viral moment before she even left the awards show, posing for goofy photos with the “Wednesday” star backstage, blowing a kiss to model Cara Delevingne and photobombing a shot of her former “Parks and Recreation” co-stars Amy Poehler and Adam Scott.
