Hogwarts Legacy PS4 is now available to snap up alongside the Xbox One version, so naturally, the folks at Digital Foundry have put these versions to the test to see how they perform. The result? The PS4 version has some noticeable advantages over Microsoft’s last-generation console.

According to the pixel wizards, the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions of the Wizarding World RPG features improved lighting and fewer instances of pop-in compared to the Xbox One.

Both Xbox One and One X are missing a lot of environmental shadows relative to the Series S, which is a difference that we’ve observed below. But the PS4 and PS4 Pro both showcase environmental shadows just like the Series S, producing a more realistic looking world.

Hogwarts Legacy was released for the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in February 2023, and arrived on PS4 and Xbox One just last week. You can read our full review of the PS5 version of the fantasy-RPG here.
